The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has promised to relocate traders and dealers at Apo Mechanics Village to their permanent site in Wassa District.

Wike made this promise on Friday in Abuja while inaugurating a committee that will help with the relocation process.

“It’s been promise on promise since 2011 without fulfilment, but Tinubu has promised, and the process has begun,” the minister said.

He explained that previous administrations had failed to relocate the traders, but President Bola Tinubu’s administration is determined to make it happen.

“To show we are serious, on June 27, we will visit Wassa with the leaders of Apo Mechanics to see the permanent site,” he added.

The minister said this visit will help them decide what infrastructure is needed to prepare the site for the traders.

The committee, which Wike will lead, includes key officials such as the Coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council and the Directors of Development Control, Land, Urban and Regional Planning, Survey, and Resettlement and Compensation.

Wike also advised the traders to remain united and avoid fighting among themselves.

This collective effort is to ensure that Tinubu’s promise is fulfilled,” he said.

“You will achieve more if you work together. One of the jobs of government is to make people happy, and we will do everything we can to make you happy.”
