Having Egaali Is a Sign of Weakness – A Pass

Singer A Pass, born Alexander Bagonza, has shared his thoughts on musicians who surround themselves with large gangs, locally known as “Egaali.”

While he stays fit by going to the gym and has a background in martial arts, he does not believe that is why he feels no need to have a gang around him, even during performances or shows.

He explained to Sanyuka TV that he has not wronged anyone to the extent that he would need to feel protected by a group of ten or more people. For A Pass, anyone who surrounds themselves with such a large group is showing weakness, and the true meaning of power, in his view, comes from moving alone.

He pointed to former professional boxers Mike Tyson, who prefers moving solo, and Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is rarely seen with more than three bouncers, as examples of people who naturally command respect.

He added that although he moves alone, he has never been disrespected or robbed and that the respect he receives from others is because he gives it in return. A Pass also noted that those who keep gangs around them may be dealing with insecurities, perhaps rooted in their upbringing, and feel the need to be surrounded by many other people to feel accomplished.
