The South African Defence Force (SANDF) is ready to roll the red carpet out as they bid farewell to former Deputy President David Mabuza.
Speaking to SABC News on the sidelines of the funeral underway in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, Director General of Ceremonial at the SANDF, Rear Admiral Mokgadi Maphoto, says that this funeral will see a high deployment of members from the military, adding that the nature of a state funeral means that the defence force will take charge of the funeral proceedings.
Mabuza’s funeral is taking place under a Category Two State Funeral – Level One.
Admiral Maphoto says Mabuza will be given a 19 gun salute during his burial at the gravesite in Barberton where he will be laid to rest.
