Banyana Banyana of South Africa head coach, Desiree Ellis, has revealed how her team will approach their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON semi-final clash against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Both teams are set to face off in the WAFCON last four on Tuesday evening in Morocco.

Nigeria and South Africa had earlier defeated the likes of Zambia and Senegal in the quarter-finals.

The semi-final match will take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Speaking at her pre-match press conference ahead of the encounter on Tuesday, Ellis said her team would face the Super Falcons in the same manner they did against Senegal.

According to her, South Africa will nullify Nigeria’s threats and seize opportunities when they arise.

“Any team you play against has threats, there’s no two ways about it. And Nigeria not having conceded obviously shows how good their defence is and they have scored goals, shows how good their attack is,” Ellis told reporters.

“We just have to be on top of our game and try to nullify those threats and take opportunities when they come because against Senegal we had few and didn’t take them.

“So it’s a game of ninety minutes, maybe extra time, maybe penalties, and we just have to be on top of our game because we are coming up against an opponent that is very strong, an opponent that hasn’t conceded, that has scored goals. So we have to make sure we have a plan A, plan B and plan C.”
