Embattled businessman Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court in Johannesburg this morning.
He is facing charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and money laundering after an alleged attempted hit on his former partner.
Vusimuzi Matlala remains in the Kgosi Mampuru C-Max Prison awaiting trial.
It is alleged that his former partner was in a car when unknown hitmen fired at her, her friend and their driver. She escaped unharmed; however, her friend sustained injuries.
Matlala has been under the spotlight after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi alleged that he has strong connections with senior police officials.
