The Sir Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Lagos, Nigeria has continued to be a good hunting ground for Uganda, following a near-perfect display by all six players in the Under-15 singles category at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Championships.
‘Sir’ Joseph Sebatindira started the day off with splendid displays in group 1 that he finished atop after beating Cameroonian Ndzelen Maxwell 3-0, edged Nigeria’s Joseph Victor in a narrow 3-2 win before toppling South African Scholtz Ruan 3-1 for his six points.
Shariff Nsereko was also in unstoppable form in group eight in which he beat both Togolese Agbetoglo Tony and Cameroon’s Ndzelen Maxsmith 3-0 with a 3-1 win over Benin’s Abdourahaman Ganiou ending his group stage atop the standings with six points.
Uganda’s only dent was failure by Ibrahim Mutesasira to come out of group five. The youngster lost twice; 3-1 and 3-0 to Nigeria’s Hussein Adeoye and Tunisian Essid Amir but was able to humble Zimbabwean Makoni Shallom 3-1.
