Prominent Ugandan events promoter and president of Uganda promoters Abitex has announced that promoters across the country have collectively decided to ban Eddy Kenzo and all artistes affiliated with the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) from performing at their events.

This decision comes in the wake of the government’s recent allocation of 33 billion Ugandan shillings to support the music industry through the UNMF, a move approved by Parliament to benefit various stakeholders in the sector.

However, according to Abitex, promoters were excluded from any share of the funds, allegedly due to mismanagement by Eddy Kenzo, who currently serves as both the President of the UNMF and a presidential advisor.

“Eddy Kenzo has failed us. As someone in a position of influence, he should have ensured fair distribution of the funds, but he chose otherwise. We now see the UNMF as a fraudulent group, and we can no longer support or work with them.”,Abitex stated.

In response to the dispute, Abitex also appealed to the President for intervention and revealed that a group of promoters plans to travel to Gulu soon to meet with General Salim Saleh in an effort to resolve the standoff.

As of now, Eddy Kenzo has not issued any public response regarding the allegations or the ban.
