Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi, has flown into the UK to finalize his move to Arsenal.

The Athletic reports that Zubimendi is set to meet with club officials in London, to wrap up the transfer.

The 26-year-old has a £51million release clause in his contract, but the Gunners will pay a slightly higher fee, to enable them spread payment over several years.

Zubimendi is set to become Mikel Arteta’s first signing of the summer.

Since coming through Sociedad’s youth system, Zubimendi has represented the LaLiga club 236 times and scored 10 goals.

The Spaniard was the subject of serious interest from Liverpool last year, but chose to remain in his country for one more season.

Earlier this month, there were rumours that Real Madrid had made contact with the player’s camp, in a late bid to hijack Arsenal’s move.
