President Bola Tinubu has met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday night.
It is understood that this is connected to the upcoming ruling party’s NEC meeting on Thursday.
Tinubu is expected to communicate his position to the governors.
During the NEC meeting, APC are likely to choose a new National Chairman to replace Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned last month.
The Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, assumed office in an acting capacity after Ganduje stepped down.
Some observers expected NEC to ratify Dalori’s role and give him a timeframe within which to organise an elective national convention to choose a substantive chairman.
However, others insisted Tinubu could choose a substantive chairman during the meeting.
