Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has disclosed that he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The main opposition party is currently grappling with a protracted crisis, which began after its presidential primary election in 2023.

The National Working Committee, NWC, of PDP is also in disagreement over the position of its National Secretary.

The NWC rejected the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary on Wednesday, asserting that no such decision had been made by any recognised organ of the party.

Just yesterday, stakeholders of the party met with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to clarify the issue of who occupies the position of National Secretary, but the meeting yielded no result.

Following the meeting with INEC, Damagun announced that Anyanwu had been asked to resume as National Secretary of the party.

This was contrary to the resolution of the 99th NEC meeting, which referred all matters relating to the office of the National Secretary to the 100th NEC meeting.

Many members of the party at various levels are leaving the PDP and joining the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Asked if he was also planning to leave PDP, Suswam replied in the affirmative during an interview, citing the crisis rocking the party.

“There is a possibility that I will; there are so many alternatives. There is LP, ADA, NNPP. APC can be alternative,” he said during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday.

“APC, after all, is the ruling party, so I’m not ruling that out.”
