Twahira Akandinda, the 30-year-old widow of the late legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya, has publicly dismissed recent DNA results that ruled out her son as a biological child of the former MP.
In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Akandinda acknowledged that she had a child before meeting Ssegirinya, but stressed that he had accepted and raised the child as his own.

The couple later had a son together, whom she firmly believes is Ssegirinya’s biological child.
“I don’t trust the results. People are trying to fight me, but I believe the truth will come out,” she said, If the second test also rules out my son, I will not appeal again.”she said, urging the government to conduct a second DNA test.
Akandinda claimed that family disputes over Ssegirinya’s estate had begun even before his passing.

“I’m not surprised by what’s happening. People have always been after his property,” she added.
Former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, a close friend of Ssegirinya, has pledged legal support to protect the rights of the late MP’s children.
Munyagwa criticized the DNA tests, stating that Ssegirinya never questioned the paternity of any child during his lifetime.
The controversy follows a statement by Alex Lusswa Luwemba, Ssegirinya’s longtime aide, who revealed that DNA tests confirmed only four out of nine children brought forward were biologically related to the late legislator.

Those confirmed include Nagirinya Aaliyah, Sharifah Nagirinya, Shifrah Nagirinya, and Ivan.
