The two-time defending Rugby World Cup champions South Africa will continue to evolve as an attacking and defensive unit and the coaching team hopes to see the improvements in the upcoming matches against the Barbarians, Italy and Georgia.

The Springboks had an exceptional season last year, winning 11 of the 13 test matches they played.

Adding to that, they scored the third most number of tries in a season since 1992, 57 in total.

Former All Blacks flyhalf Tony Brown, who oversees the Springboks attack, believes another exciting season lies ahead because the players have a better understanding of what the coaches expect of them.

The Springboks start their season with an unofficial match against the Baabaas in Cape Town on Saturday.

“It’s obviously a very special team. Great, great experience for me last year and this year, I feel as though, after two weeks of training, I feel as though we are further ahead than we were last year around how we try and play the game on both attack and defense. I think the players understand how we coach and what’s required of them a lot better than this time last year. So, I’m excited to get started, I think we’re in a better place and obviously the games and the results will see where we’re at,” adds Brown.
