Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has clarified that he is not harbouring any plans to join the coalition of opposition leaders plotting to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.

DAILY POST had reported that the recent resignation of former Senate President David Mark from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had reportedly thrown Moro into a deep political dilemma.

However, Moro, a former Minister of Interior, declared his stance via a video he posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.

The lawmaker, who asserted that he joined the PDP in 1998, said he now sees himself “as a founding member of the PDP” and has no reason to quit the party.

“I was one of the first persons elected on the platform of PDP precisely on 8 December 1998 during a local government election. I contested to be the chairman of Okpokwu LG in Benue State and I won.

“I have never defected or joined any other party. Even as I am talking now, I’m a bonafide member of PDP.

“I have not and I’m not intending to join any coalition. I think we should approach Nigeria with a serious mind of electing people who are prepared to govern this country.”

According to the lawmaker, it is inappropriate for opposition leaders, who recently adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as the official platform to contest the 2027 election, “to take decisions based on grievances, failed expectations arising from frustration of rising expectations.”

Moro added: “I know there are some concerns about the policies of this present administration. I know that people think that enough has not been done but I think the politics of gang up is not a solution to our problems.”
