South Africa’s national cricket team is gearing up to meet New Zealand (NZ) in the final of the T20 International Tri-Series at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Saturday afternoon.
Coach Shukri Conrad is excited about the talent and potential of the Proteas squad and says they will be looking to get one over the Black Caps.
New Zealand is unbeaten in the series, having defeated the South Africans and the hosts twice.
The Proteas coach says he is focused on Saturday,
“It’s been largely experimental for me. I have sat back and observed and watched a lot, tinkered here and there, but it was always going to be about this final on Saturday. I would be disappointed if we didn’t put up a bold showing and try and get one over New Zealand.”
Much of the talk has been about the squad selected to do duty against Australia next month. Off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen, batsmen Dewald Brevis and Lhuan-dré Pretorius, are some of the players who have been called up.
Coach Shukri says he is confident about the players’ strength in T20.
“The final on Saturday will give a good idea of where everybody is at. I am very excited about the young talent we have at our disposal, especially in the T20 format. They are players that can make a huge impact. I am looking forward to spending a while with them to see how they develop.”
