Musician Derrick Ddungu, popularly known as Rickman Manrick, has announced that he will be stepping away from music in 2028.
In a recent interview, Rickman revealed that he plans to mark the end of his musical journey with a massive farewell concert titled “10 Years of Rickman”. The event will be both his debut and final live performance.
“I’m going to retire from music in 2028 with a concert celebrating 10 years of Rickman. It will be my first and last show,” he stated.
Reflecting on his career, Rickman shared how his breakout hit ‘Ebango’ was recorded during the early, exciting days of his journey. However, his focus has since shifted to creating music with lasting impact.
“When I recorded ‘Ebango’, I was just starting out and enjoying the moment. Now, I’m more focused on making timeless music,” he said.

He also noted that music is no longer a financial pressure for him, as he’s involved in other ventures that sustain him.
“I don’t do music for money anymore or because I feel pressured. I have other sources of income,” Rickman Manrick added.
With the planned concert in 2028, Rickman intends to celebrate a decade in the industry and bid farewell on his own terms.
