Rehabilitation works on the Tororo–Gulu railway line are progressing steadily, with significant track laying activities currently underway in Kumi District. The project, aimed at restoring the vital northern transport corridor, has also seen earthworks completed up to Lira District, including the preparation of the railway formation.
As part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the line’s resilience and longevity, the engineering teams have installed bridges and culverts across key waterways to guarantee uninterrupted water flow while protecting the railway from potential washaways during heavy rains.
Once complete, the Tororo–Gulu railway line is expected to boost regional connectivity, ease cargo movement, and stimulate economic activity in eastern and northern Uganda.
