Lesotho Royal Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso has delivered her keynote address at the National Children’s Parliament, under the theme Planning and Budgeting. In her address, she noted that while Lesotho has taken bold steps since 2010, in enacting new laws, and developing new policies and programmes to protect the rights to education, health and access to justice and safety, much more needed to be done.
The National Children’s Parliament Simulation is in progress. The Princess’s message was a clarion call for the recognition and inclusion of children’s voices in matters of planning and budgeting.
The aim of the National Children’s Parliament Simulation, is to equip young people with the necessary skills, to enhance their ability to interact with all forms of government.
I URGE YOU TO LISTEN CLOSELY TO OUR YOUNG LEADERS, AS THEIR WORDS CARRY THE TRUE REFLECTION OF THEIR EXPERIENCES & THE HOPE OF THEIR DREAMS. LET US COMMIT TO MAKING BUDGETS THAT PRIORITIZE CHILDREN’S NEEDS, POLICIES THAT PROTECT THEIR RIGHTS, AND PLANS THAT INCLUDE THEIR VOICES. pic.twitter.com/mJg6Kvdum0
