The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State has pledged unity and peace within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Critical stakeholders and party leaders in the area also resolved to put aside individual differences and work together towards building a purposeful and victorious party ahead of the 2027 polls.

The crucial decision was taken on Saturday during an expanded caucus and stakeholders’ meeting held at the country home of Chief Chive Kaave in Katsina-Ala town.

The meeting culminated in a unanimous vote of confidence in Chief Samuel Ortom, the leader of the PDP in Benue State, for his exceptional leadership in navigating the party through turbulent times to stability.

They also expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Ezekiel Adaji-led State Working Committee, which has been instrumental in ensuring smooth operations and stability across all levels of the party.

The meeting passed several key resolutions aimed at repositioning the party for victory in 2027.

These include a directive to all ward chairmen to hold expanded meetings in their respective wards to identify and replace members who have defected to other parties, particularly at the executive levels.

The meeting equally extended appreciation to Hon. Thomas Tyolumun Unongo, a critical party leader in Zone A Senatorial District, for donating a zonal office to PDP in Katsina-Ala, which will enhance the party’s administration and operations.

In her remarks, Mrs Vera Akua, the State Auditor of the party, reminded members that PDP’s primary agenda is to work tirelessly to reclaim power from the current administration.

She urged party members to remain focused and avoid distractions, emphasising that the party’s success depends on its ability to present a united front.

Other notable contributors to the meeting, including Hon. Tikaa Desmond, Hon. Dickson Orlu Pawa, Hon. Chive Kaave, Mrs Juliet Yansha, Hon. Tor Aye, Robert Angir, Akwa Festus, Hon. Shimataver Aper, and many others, all expressed confidence that the PDP is now stronger and better positioned to take back power at all levels in 2027, following the successful exit of factions within the party.

In a significant development, the meeting witnessed the decamping of key stakeholders from other political parties, led by Hon. Ape Seza, who were warmly received into the PDP by the party leadership in Katsina-Ala Local Government.

The influx of new members is expected to bolster the party’s strength and enhance its chances of success in the 2027 elections.

The Katsina-Ala PDP’s resolve to unite and work towards a common goal is a clear indication of the party’s determination to reclaim power and serve the people of Benue State.
