Residents of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, were shocked following a viral video in which a staff of a well-known eatery allegedly admitted to being part of a kidnap syndicate.

The video, which has spread rapidly across social media platforms, features an employee of Yan Doto Food Palace, a restaurant located near the Zamfara Government House, claiming involvement in abductions that recently rocked the Mareri area.

The confession has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting swift reactions from civil society groups and youth organisations.

In a statement released on Monday, the Zamfara State Youth Association expressed serious concern over the development.

The association’s president, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba, described the revelation as “deeply disturbing,” citing the widespread fear it has generated among residents.

“This revelation has caused serious concern, especially considering the restaurant’s proximity to a critical location like the Government House,” Abba stated.

“Many are now questioning how such criminal operations could go unnoticed for so long, right under the nose of the government.”

Calling for immediate and thorough action, the youth leader urged the nation’s security bodies to take the matter seriously.

He urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate possible hideouts and collaborators aiding criminal gangs in the state.

Abba also advised residents to be cautious, particularly in public places where suspected criminals may be blending in as everyday patrons or workers.

As of press time, no official statement has been made by the security agencies.
