Oyo: Fireplace destroys properties value tens of millions of naira in Ibadan manufacturing facility

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following a fire that ravaged an industrial facility in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred at Shril-Balaj Industrial Limited, in the Olopomeji area of Ibadan, in the early hours of Sunday. The recycling section of the facility, which housed an accumulation of disused tyres, was affected, leading to the destruction of property worth millions of naira.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST, he noted that the incident was reported to the agency at about 7:07 am on Sunday.

Akinwande said, “The fire incident was a result of the explosion of a running machine, which ignited nearby combustibles and set the section ablaze.

“The fire affected the recycling section and disused tyres, whilst the fire service was able to save other sections of the company from the devastating fire.”
