No agreement has been reached in talks between FlySafair and trade union Solidarity which is representing the airline’s pilots.
The two parties met at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) in Centurion, Gauteng yesterday.
The union is demanding a 10.5% wage increase however, the employer is offering 5.7%.
Around 200 pilots are on strike. This has led to flight cancellations and disruptions.
Yesterday, Solidarity said it is willing to negotiate downwards, adding that its priority will be focused on resolving non-finance disagreements.
It says the pilots’ roster in relation to the working hours remains the most contentious issue for its members.
Reduced operations
FlySafair has since reduced its operations by at least 30% since the strike action started and is getting help from South African Airways (SAA).
Kirby Gordon, FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer, said they continue to maintain a stable but reduced timetable, hopeful for a positive outcome in the CCMA intervention.
