N Cape well being division welcomes ombud’s findings on two hospitals – SABC Information

The Northern Cape Department of Health has welcomed the findings and recommendations by the Health Ombudsman, after an investigation on the state of affairs at the Northern Cape Mental Hospital and the Robert Sobukwe Hospital.

The Health Ombud has released a damning report following the death of two psychiatric patients and the immobile state of another patient who suffered a stroke and remains bedridden.

The department’s spokesperson, Mandisa Mereeotlhe, says, “We welcome this thorough investigation that was initiated by Minister Motsoaledi in October. The department wants to assure the public that we are taking the findings very seriously and are committed to studying all the recommendations carefully.”
