Ugandan rapper Mun G has finally cleared the air about his departure from Baboon Forest Entertainment, dismissing long-standing rumours that he was dismissed from the label.
In a recent interview, the “Kunta Kinte” hitmaker explained that his exit was amicable and simply the result of his contract ending.
“My contract with Baboon Forest was for three years, and when it expired, I left peacefully,I was never fired. I just moved on and started my own crew, Kunta Kinte.”,Mun G said.
At the time, the label was led by fellow rapper GNL Zamba. Mun G went on to explain why he chose to go solo, citing the perception challenges artists faced when signed under others.

“Back then, people didn’t really respect musicians who were under someone else’s label. That’s just how it was—being independent gave you more credibility.”,he noted.
Since launching Kunta Kinte, Mun G has successfully established himself as a force in Uganda’s hip-hop scene, continuing to inspire a new wave of rappers.
