His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, is currently in the Kingdom of Morocco for the awarding ceremony of top champions in international competitions for Holy Qur’an recitations and mastery of Hadith (divine sayings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him).
The three days’ event was officially opened by H.E Dr. Ahmad El Tawfiq, Minister of Endowments & Islamic affairs, at Marriott Hotel in Heritage City of Fez, Morocco, Wednesday 18th December 2024.
The annual competition, organized by the King Mohamed VI Foundation, gathers African Muslim scholars (Oulema) from 48 member countries, including Uganda.

Among the top awardees are Uganda’s Yasin Abdu-Rahman, who won the Qur’an recitation competition, and Bashirah Naibale, who claimed the top prize in the Hadith competition.
Dr. Sheikh Mubaje, also the Chairperson of the African Forum for Muslim Councils (AFMC), is attending the event with a delegation that includes Dr. Ebraheem Ssali, AFMC Executive Secretary; Dr. Sheikh Hussein Muhammad Bbowa, Regional Assistant to the Mufti for Busoga; Sheikh Yasin Banoba; and the parents of the Ugandan winners. The delegation is expected to return home over the weekend.
