The trial of six men accused of the murder of 18 people at Ngobozana village in Lusikisiki last year has been adjourned until Wednesday, by the Mthatha High Court special sitting in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape.
The court has been dealing with a matter that relates to the killing of an African National Congress (ANC) politician, Mncedisi Gijana, in Kwabhaca in August last year.
It is alleged that the firearms that were used to kill Gijana were positively linked to the murder of eighteen people at Ngobozana.
During today’s proceedings, the state called the second witness, a police officer who attended the scene following Gijana’s shooting. He told the court that on his arrival at the house, he saw about five cartridges and eight bullet holes on the walls.
He testified that there was a lot of blood in the room where Gijana’s body was found lying on the floor.
The court has been adjourned until Wednesday as one of the legal representatives will not be available on Tuesday.
The trial will resume on Wednesday with the focus on the mass murder of 18 people.
