North West-based businessman Brown Mogotsi has refuted KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi‘s recent allegations against him and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Mogotsi is at the center of Mkhwanazi’s allegation that senior political figures, and top police officials are linked to the controversial disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mkhwanazi has also alleged that Mchunu has strong ties to Mogotsi as well as businessman Vusimuzi “CAT” Matlala who are alleged to be associated to the syndicates.

Mogotsi has a number of businesses in the North West.

Meanwhile, the Judiciary says rooting out any corruption in its ranks is a top priority.

The Judiciary adds that Mkhwanazi’s claims run the risk of damaging public confidence in the independence and integrity of South Africa’s courts, if they are not substantiated.

Judiciary Spokesperson and Judge President of the Free State High Court Cagney Musi says, “No mention was made of any name. No mention was made as to whether its members of the High Court judiciary or the lower court judiciary. What he did mention was an order which emanated from the Magistrate’s Court. And everybody wants to know what the factual basis is. Who is actually implicated in this? I’m not by any means saying that the judiciary is a holy cow. If he has the evidence and the facts against the judiciary, he should come forth with the facts.”
