The Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, have dismissed a disclaimer issued by the Police Service Commission, PSC, on July 31, 2025, as misleading and inaccurate.

DAILY POST reports that the PSC, through the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, had on Thursday disowned an advert published by the Police Academy, calling for applications for admission into the 12th Regular Course Degree Programmes of Nigeria Police Force.

The PSC said the advert, which set the application window from July 28 to September 8, 2025, is a violation of procedure and an attempt to undermine its constitutional mandate.

The Police Service Commission said it has the sole authority to appoint persons into the Nigeria Police Force, as affirmed by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

But reacting in a statement on Friday, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Bolaji Kazeem, in a statement on behalf of the Police Academy, clarified that the application for admission into the 12th Regular Course Degree Programmes remains valid and ongoing.

The ministry stated that the admission process is being conducted in line with the guidelines of the National Universities Commission, NUC, and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, adding that PSC has no constitutional role in university admissions

“The attention of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs has been drawn to a misleading and inaccurate disclaimer issued by the Police Service Commission on 31st July 2025,” the statement said, stressing that the PSC disclaimer is “therefore legally baseless and misleading”.

The ministry urged interested applicants and the general public to disregard the PSC disclaimer, adding that the online application portal remains open as earlier announced.
