Gauteng police say they are still searching for the suspects behind the brutal killing of Ekurhuleni Municipality Forensic Auditor, Mpho Mafole.

The 44-year-old Mafole was shot and killed on Monday last week, while driving along the R23 highway in Kempton Park. The exact cause of his murder is still subject to an investigation.

He was laid to rest on Sunday.

It is understood that Mafole was investigating a R2 billion shortfall in the City’s finances at the time of his death. According to police, investigations into the incident are still ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.
