Kun Khalifat FC head coach, Obinna Uzoho, has explained that his team adopted a defensive strategy to preserve their slim lead against Crown FC.
The Owerri-based side secured a 1–0 victory in the opening fixture of the Nigeria National League, NNL, Super 8 playoffs.
Uzoho conceded that the Ogbomosho-based Crown FC were the more dominant team during the encounter.
“We needed to defend our goal to make sure that Crown didn’t equalise and we achieved just that,” he stated after the match.
“It wasn’t that we couldn’t match their pace. Yes, we struggled but that was for us to ensure that [we] defended our one goal lead.”
Kun Khalifat FC will face Warri Wolves in their next group match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Monday.
