Johannesburg Water has officially taken over the billing functions for water and sanitation services from the City of Johannesburg, effective from the 1st of this month.
The responsibility, previously handled by the metro’s Revenue Shared Services, has been transferred to the water utility in a move aimed at improving efficiency.
While customers will still receive a single, consolidated municipal bill for all services, Johannesburg Water will now manage the billing process.
“The transition process has been carefully planned in coordination with the city of Joburg to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption to residents. By managing billing internally, Johannesburg Water will be better positioned to respond directly to customer queries, address discrepancies swiftly, and introduce innovations tailored to customer needs,” Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala explains.
