Joburg Mayor survives vote of no confidence motion – SABC News

Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has survived a vote of no confidence against him during a council sitting in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

The Democratic Alliance brought the motion, accusing the mayor of leading a dysfunctional and deteriorating city during his more than ten months in office.

Action SA abstained and did not vote on the motion.

Johannesburg Council Speaker Nobuhle Mthembu read out the votes.

“The results are as follows: the councillors who abstained, 43; the yeses, 75; the nos, 144. The motion does not pass.”
