Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out a high-precision strike on a ballistic missile engine production site near Shahrud in central Iran, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Sunday.

Speaking at a press briefing, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said the facility, located approximately 2,000 kilometres from Israel, was a key part of Iran’s surface-to-surface missile manufacturing infrastructure.

“The strike successfully targeted planetary mixers and other critical machinery used to produce missile engines,” Defrin stated.

“These are the same types of engines that have been used in recent attacks against Israel.”

The IDF said the attack was part of a broader strategy to “disrupt the Iranian regime’s missile production industry,” which officials warn is capable of producing thousands of ballistic missiles over the coming years.
