Deputy President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Godrich Gardee has hailed the late former Deputy President David Mabuza as a man of peace and unity.
Gardee says Mabuza was committed to the liberation of the people of South Africa, and that he was passionate about education and empowering others.
Representatives of political parties and members of the community continue to visit Mabuza’s homestead to pay their respects.
Sixty-four-year-old Mabuza died last week after a short illness.
Gardee was speaking to members of the media outside Mabuza’s home in Barbeton.
“We learned the struggle songs together with him when there was still Nyusa and there was still student congress in the 80s. And we did everything we could do with him and in particular 1985 – the international year of the youths, wherein, with him, we were gravelling roads, to building parks. Together with him and colleagues who were senior to us. And we learned a lot from them including how to switch on to Radio Freedom,” says Gardee.
