The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned its patrol officers across the country to steer clear of bribery and all forms of unethical behavior.

Assistant Corps Marshal Yakubu Mohammad, the newly appointed Zonal Commanding Officer for FRSC Zone RS12HQ — covering Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno states — issued the warning on Friday in Bauchi shortly after assuming office.

According to Mohammad, the Corps has put in place strict measures to detect and discipline any personnel found compromising their duties.

He stressed that both those who offer and accept bribes will face prosecution in line with FRSC’s extant laws.

He appealed to road users in the three states to cooperate with FRSC personnel, particularly as the rainy season draws near, highlighting the importance of safety and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

Mohammad also encouraged officers under his command to remain dedicated to duty, noting that under the leadership of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, the FRSC is adopting a leadership approach that combines consultation with a reward-and-sanction system.

“I urge motorists in Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno to drive responsibly — avoid overloading, speeding, and the use of unfit vehicles,” he said.

“The FRSC remains ready to respond promptly to emergencies and will continue to work with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies to ensure safer roads.”

He also reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to public education, rescue operations, and enforcement of traffic laws in line with the Corps Marshal’s vision.
