Power utility, City Power says there’ll be fewer unplanned power outages and a more stable, consistent electricity supply for households and businesses.
The embattled power utility indicated that with more infrastructure back online, it’ll now be able to respond to faults faster, significantly reducing downtime during power interruptions.
City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena says, “This progress is the result of focused creative maintenance effort led by our team in the Hursthill area and also working along our major substations in Roosevelt Park and Parkhurst. Our teams have been working tirelessly to make sure that we reduce the repeat breakdowns and that customers experience more stable and consistent electricity supply.”
According to Jacob Mashilwane who heads Hursthill’s planned maintenance team, they’re also working on modernising outdated equipment and strengthening grid resilience. “Some of our substations are very old and due to aging they tend to trip a lot. They also take a long time to come back online.”
