Eng. Moses Magogo Secures Fourth Time period as FUFA President in Unopposed Victory

Eng. Moses Magogo was unanimously confirmed as the President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the 2025-2029 term during the 101st FUFA Ordinary General Assembly held on Saturday, July 5, at Hoima Resort Hotel in the Hoima Kitara region. The assembly, attended by 88 delegates from FUFA’s 34 member associations, saw Magogo return unopposed for his fourth consecutive term, elected by acclamation.

Magogo, who first took the helm in 2013 succeeding Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, has been credited with transformative growth in Ugandan football, driving advancements in governance, competitions, national teams, and commercial ventures. Reflecting on his re-election, Magogo expressed gratitude to stakeholders, stating, “It is my great pleasure to congratulate you on the support you have given to football. Both internal and external stakeholders have played a significant role in shaping the trajectory of our sport. I am proud to say that our administration has achieved numerous success stories, making FUFA leadership look effortless.”

The assembly also unveiled the FUFA Executive Committee that will serve alongside Magogo for the next four years. Most members from the previous term were retained, including Justus Mugisha as First Vice President and Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi as Third Vice President. Other returning members include Rogers Mulindwa (Buganda), Ronnie Kalema (Referees), Rasoul Ariga (West Nile), Issa Magoola (Eastern), Agnes Mugena (North East), Rogers Byamukama (Kitara), Apollo Ahimbisibwe (Kampala), Dan Obote (Northern), and Frank Ankuzire (Western).

New faces in the committee include Dr. Twaib Azar, previously head of FUFA’s Judicial Bodies, who steps in as Second Vice President following the passing of Darius Mugoye in 2023. Deo Mutabazi, Chairman of the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA), and Ronald Barente, Chairman of BUL FC, also join as new executive members. Meanwhile, Sam Mpima (Buganda) and Richard Ochom, a former executive member, will not return.

Magogo’s leadership is expected to continue steering Ugandan football toward greater heights, building on a legacy of progress and innovation over the past decade.
