The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre (DRMC) is responding to weather related incidents, with reports of flooding and wind damage across several areas.

DRMC’s Spokesperson Sonica Lategan says affected areas include Lwandle, Macassar, and Khayelitsha, which have been escalated for assessment.

She says a canal at Wolmarans Street in Southfield has overflowed. Lategan says Non-Governmental Organizations are on standby to assist affected residents once the full impact is confirmed.

“We are awaiting confirmation on impacts to residents in these areas. Officials are also conducting assessments at New Culture along Mew Way in Khayelitsha, following reports of wind damage, and in Vygieskraal, where a canal has overflowed,”
