Veteran Ugandan media personality Douglas Lwanga has responded to public speculation about his prolonged presence on television, despite spending over 20 years in the industry.

In a recent interview, the NBS TV After 5 host addressed the notion that he should step aside to make way for younger talent.

Lwanga firmly rejected the idea, stating that his career in journalism is not governed by time limits.

“I studied journalism, and there’s no point where it says I have to resign after a certain number of years,” he said.

Douglas Lwanga emphasized that his role on television is only a small part of his broader professional life. While he appears on screen for just three hours a day, he dedicates the rest of his time to other meaningful projects.

“I want people to look at the other things I do. I’m a presenter, yes, but I also organise shows, run a non-profit that equips youth with skills, and do TV graphics. I’m involved in a lot.”,he disclosed.

He went on to explain that his long-standing experience in the media industry has opened numerous doors for growth, both personally and professionally. Far from becoming stagnant, Lwanga says he’s continuously evolving.

“If I was doing the same thing all these years, then you’d have a point. But I’m diverse—and that diversity stems from my time on TV,” he concluded.
