In a refreshing stride toward community vitality and sports tourism, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has once again cemented its role as the official hydration partner for the fourth edition of the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, set to unfold on August 23, 2025, in the breathtaking Kasese district. With a cool Shs 173 million sponsorship, CCBU is ensuring runners stay energized with Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water as they conquer the scenic 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km routes.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that CCBU, a proud member of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa family, has partnered with the marathon, transforming the event into a global celebration of endurance, culture, and the majestic Rwenzori Mountains. Known for its equatorial crossing and vibrant cultural immersion, the marathon draws athletes and adventurers from over 30 countries, all eager to race through lush landscapes under the shadow of Uganda’s snow-capped peaks.

“We’re thrilled to pour our passion for community wellness into this iconic event,” said Kirunda Magoola, CCBU’s Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability Director. “The Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon isn’t just a race it’s a showcase of Uganda’s natural splendor and resilience. Keeping runners hydrated with Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water is our way of fueling their journey.”

With Kasese’s August heat often soaring to 30°C, CCBU’s commitment to hydration is more than a gesture it’s a lifeline. The company will deploy 12 hydration stations along the route, roughly every 3 kilometers, stocked with chilled Rwenzori water and select Coca-Cola beverages to keep participants refreshed. This strategic support, paired with CCBU’s eco-conscious efforts through its Plastic Recycling Industries plant, underscores its dedication to both athlete safety and environmental stewardship.

Amos Wekesa, Team Lead for the marathon, hailed CCBU’s unwavering support as a cornerstone of the event’s success. “Coca-Cola’s partnership is like a steady stream in the mountains reliable and vital,” Wekesa said. “Their Shs 173 million investment ensures every runner, from elite athletes to first-time fun-runners, can focus on the experience without worrying about hydration.”

The Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, now certified by World Athletics, offers more than just a race. It’s a gateway to Kasese’s wonders, from Queen Elizabeth National Park’s tree climbing lions to boat cruises on Lake Edward. The event also champions local talent, with special cash prizes for Rwenzori region runners and Persons with Disabilities, fostering inclusivity and community pride.

As anticipation builds for August 2025, CCBU’s sponsorship is a reminder that every drop counts whether it’s water for runners or support for a region brimming with potential. For those lacing up their shoes, the marathon promises not just a finish line, but a journey through the heart of Uganda’s wild beauty.
