CAF Begins Closing Inspection Tour Forward of CHAN 2024 Kick-Off in East Africa

With just under a month to go, the build-up to the Total Energies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 is in full gear. CAF officials are on the ground this week, making inspection visits and holding key workshops across the three host countries — Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — as East Africa prepares to welcome the continent’s top home-based football talent.

The tournament officially kicks off on 2 August at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with the opening match set for 8:00 PM local time.

CAF’s delegation begins its final tour in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday, 3 July, where focus will be placed on match venues, training grounds, logistics, team accommodations, transport, security, TV production, and more — the nuts and bolts that ensure a tournament runs smoothly on and off the pitch.

Inspection Schedule:
Kenya (3–6 July): Moi International Sports Centre and Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi
Zanzibar (6–7 July): Amaan Stadium
Tanzania Mainland (8–9 July): Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam
Uganda (9–10 July): Mandela National Stadium, Kampala
CHAN 2024 marks the first time the tournament will be co-hosted by three nations — a historic moment not just for East African football, but for the region’s ability to deliver a continental showpiece. The clock is ticking, the pressure is building, and preparations are entering their final stretch.
