Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has stated that he prefers Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to that of President Bola Tinubu.

Amaechi made this statement during a discussion on an X Space titled Weekend Politics on Saturday.

“Buhari’s government is 100 times better than Tinubu’s government. For Christ’s sake, were you dying of hunger? What we pay here is N1 million every week for power (N4 million in a month).

“How many people can afford that? Then you have to buy diesel of about N300,000 aside from feeding and staff salary,” Amaechi asserted.

He went on to lament the current situation, maintaining that Nigerians were better off under the previous administration than they are under Tinubu’s leadership.

“But it was not like that when Buhari was in power. Why are we comparing diamond to gold? In fact, this government is not even gold at all,” he added.

Amaechi’s remarks follow his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, where he now aligns with prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Amaechi also pledged to back ADC’s presidential candidate, provided the nominee emerges from a free and fair primary election.

“In a free and fair primary, whoever wins will have my full support. I will be deeply devoted to the campaign and will do everything in my power to help ADC unseat this current, clueless government.

“I will abandon the coastal road; that road is for stealing. Electoral reforms are the lowest-hanging fruit for me if I become President. There will be electoral reforms in my first six months,” he stated.
