The four-year-old girl from Eldorado Park in Johannesburg who had been hospitalized after being allegedly beaten repeatedly and sexually assaulted by her father has died.
This has been confirmed by Gauteng police this afternoon. Police say the docket has now been changed to murder and that an additional charge of rape has been added.
During her father’s arrest on Wednesday, the little girl was found by police on the bed with head injuries, bruises and a swollen eye. She’s been on life support at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in Soweto.
Both her parents were arrested and appeared in the Protea Magistrates’ court today.
The man was charged with attempted murder and rape, whilst the mother faces a charge of defeating the ends of justice. This means the man will now be charged with murder.
