Arsenal thrash Athletic Membership 3-0 in last preseason recreation

Arsenal rounded off their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign with a 3-0 thumping of Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners were looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal in previous pre-season fixtures.

They began the game in quick fashion, with Viktor Gyökeres and Bukayo Saka giving them a two-goal lead in the first half.

Gyökeres headed in Martin Zubimendi’s powerful cross, while Saka rolled the ball into an empty net after being teed up by Gabriel Martinelli.

Kai Havertz, who was back among the substitutes following a slight injury, came off the bench to score a third with a powerful solo run and finish.

Arsenal will kick off their Premier League season next Sunday with a heavyweight clash against Manchester United.
