The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State Chapter, under the chairmanship of John C. Iwuala, has reacted to the killing of two police personnel in the state, even as it condemned the incident and described it as a dangerous signal to public safety.

The State Chairman, during a press briefing in Owerri recently, lamented the level of insecurity in the state, saying it is nothing to write home about.

He also pointed out that the level of killings has gone out of hand.

Iwuala berated the killings, stressing that it is quite insulting and embarrassing that some unknown individuals would bear ammunition, patrol, terrorize, and kill people in the state, while the authorities are all keeping mute about it.

“It doesn’t speak well of the Governor, being the chief security of the state,” he noted.

The APGA State Chairman further lamented that Imo is no longer safe with the unchecked activities of alleged Fulani herdsmen attacks, who are seriously terrorizing the entire state, camping in many bushes, reportedly engaging in organ harvesting, as well as terrorizing all areas, while on the other side gunmen are having their field day.

He argued that if gunmen can easily kill Nigerian police officers, what more of ordinary civilians.

Iwuala therefore urged the State Governor to do his primary duty as the chief security of the state, as it affects the protection of lives and properties of citizens.

He charged the Governor to take the bull by the horns and ensure that proper measures are put in place to harness serenity and ensure the apprehension of the perpetrators.

The State APGA boss encouraged Imo indigenes and residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement around their immediate environment.

He also urged them to utilize the farming season to clear their bushes and always check on their forests, as he emphasized the importance of forming vigilantes across villages.
