African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, says that they are currently happy with the handling of the allegations by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkwanazi.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the ANC NEC meeting in Ormonde today, at the South of Johannesburg.

In an explosive media briefing last month, Mkwanazi alleged that some senior SAPS officials including some politicians, prosecutors and members of the judiciary, are working with criminal syndicates. This has since prompted President Cyril Ramaphosa to place Senzo Mchunu on special leave, who has now been replaced by Firoz Cachalia as Police Minister.
“Lieutenant-General Mkwanazi’s allegations have been processed. In the political overview, as well as in the discussions throughout the day, comrades can reflect as to what should happen. Here is what we have endorsed and is now unfolding. We have a new Minister of Police, Cachalia. Secondly, we have endorsed that there is a commission of inquiry that is going to be in operation with clear terms of reference. New ideas in relation to the way forward will be reported. If comrades want to come up with new ideas with the NEC they are free to do so. However, the NWC has already endorsed the steps of which the government has taken to respond to General Mkhwanazi,” says Mbalula.
