All systems are go for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, following the successful conclusion of the final round of venue inspections across the three host countries — Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The 8-day mission by the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) covered all key stadiums and was aimed at fine-tuning preparations ahead of the much-anticipated tournament, set to run from 2 to 30 August 2025.
The inspection kicked off on Thursday 3 July in Nairobi, Kenya, where the CAF delegation visited Kasarani Stadium — which will host the final — and Nyayo International Stadium.
From there, the team proceeded to Tanzania, inspecting the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar and Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the venue for the opening ceremony.
The final stop was in Uganda, where the delegation toured Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Thursday 9 July.
CAF’s inspection team included heads of key departments such as Competitions, Marketing, Media, Broadcast, Safety & Security, and Infrastructure. They were joined by Local Organising Committee (LOC) counterparts in each of the three host nations.
With just days to go before kick-off, the successful conclusion of the inspection marks a major milestone in East Africa’s preparations to host what promises to be a spectacular celebration of African football.
CAF praised the collective readiness of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, noting the strong cooperation from all three governments and their LOCs in ensuring everything is in place for a successful event.
The final round of inspections also included workshops and planning meetings, where final adjustments were made ahead of the tournament. The enthusiasm and commitment from all sides point to a region ready to deliver a record-breaking edition of CHAN.
CAF extended its appreciation to the governments and Local Organising Committees of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda for their dedication and teamwork in preparing to host the continent.
