ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says in order for Africa to prosper, it should be exporting finished products the world needs, instead of raw materials.

The continent is rich in mineral resources, including a large percentage of gold, diamonds and platinum. Ramaphosa was addressing the Liberation Movements Summit at Kempton Park, in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng’s East Rand.

“Rather than export rock, sand and soil we should be exporting finished products that the world needs. We must process build and produce all that we need here in the continent. This calls on us to invest in infrastructure that extends beyond national boundaries to build a region that is both physically and economically integrated, as liberation movements from southern Africa we are well placed to drive that important efforts,” he says.
