Members of Parliament’s Ad hoc committee established to investigate the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner  Lieutenant General, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s allegations will meet for the first time next week.

Mkhwanazi has alleged that senior police officials have ties to criminal syndicates and interfere in police operations.

Parliament says no decision has been taken yet on whether the findings of the committee will form part of the Commission of Inquiry into allegations regarding law enforcement agencies.

Parliamentary Spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says, “No. It may be shared but that will be the decision of the National Assembly. You would know that in terms of the work that the judiciary commission of inquiry will be doing, they are supposed to submit their reports but to an extent that if that there is a need to assist with that, that is the decision the institution will take.”
