Abia State government has officially distanced itself from the “International Summit on Lands, Estates and Properties” slated to take place today at Nsulu kingdom in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

Nsulu is the host community for Abia International Airport, where lands have been acquired by the Abia State government for the project.

But in a public service announcement signed by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije, the government made it clear that it is neither participating in nor organizing the said summit.

Chukwumerije, who emphasized that all land acquisitions related to the Abia Airport project at the Nsulu site have already been undertaken by the state government, warned that any individual or group engaging in land deals in and around the airport area is taking a big risk.

He advised residents and investors to direct all land-related inquiries and transactions to the Ministry of Lands and Housing located at the state secretariat, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.

Abia government further urged the general public to exercise caution and consult the appropriate authorities to avoid legal or financial complications.

There have been pockets of claims by some landowners in some communities in the proposed Nsulu Airport City about inadequate compensation and the sizes of the lands acquired by the Abia State government.

However, the state government has maintained that it duly compensated the indigenes, reduced land size, and would also give employment to the indigenes in the Airport City.
