Police are searching for two of the three suspects who allegedly kidnapped a man working for a company contracted to repair streetlights at Malamulele, Limpopo.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the 27- year-old man was working when he was kidnapped and taken to a house where he was tortured.
Ledwaba says the suspects called the owner of the company to deposit money for his release.
He says one of the suspects was later arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.
“They took him to a certain house where he was kept, assaulted and tortured with burning plastic demanding ransom money for his release they contacted his boss who transferred undisclosed amount of money for his release.
He was also robbed of his cell phone, driver’s license and passport. The police were informed about the incident and launched a search for the possible suspects eventually one suspect was arrested immediately after collecting all evidence from the victim police have intensified a search for the remaining suspects.”
